The summer is around the corner and already we are letting our dogs out to run around the yard to enjoy fresh air and a little sunshine at picnics, backyard barbeques and parks. Just a reminder to stay healthy and safe in our dog care and follow some careful guidelines like keeping your dog leashed at all times in public places. Bring water and treats to keep your dog feeling good all day.
I was just reading a little message posting on Urbanhound.com about a woman who had trouble with a person attempting to pick up her little dog at a dogrun. It made me wonder what kind of person would not ask permission before attempting to pick up someone else’s dog but then I guess we may all need a little reminder about dogpark etiquette.
Check it out, know before you go.

(a great piece of information from About.com)

I’m currently checking out the Long Island dog park resources so check back in soon for the complete list as compiled by me.
As well, here is a little advice about plants to avoid when outside or at other people’s homes or gardens. Especially at friends who do not have dogs, we have to be a little wary of what lurks in the greenery for the safety of our furry friends. The ASPCA has some great information about that at:

Oh and one last scoop to share, many of you will appreciate the pun:

I didn’t know that a simple thing like that could be such a problem for city dwellers.
I guess that’s the perfect way to end this update.
"Taxi!!!"
"Did you ever try to get a cab in Manhattan while with your dog? It's like trying to get a seat during rush hour. It can be so grueling. You wave until your arm is ready to fall off. Finally, some much needed information about travelling with your dog in NYC. The Pampered Puppy gives us much needed advice about that subject. I wish I knew about this a year ago! Here to share some important tips about Pet Taxis, check out the link below. Oh, and grab a bag of Honeybark Bakery Zingers if your dog has a tendency to get carsickness. Ginger is the ingredient that helps combat nausea. You know, like when mom used to give you flat ginger ale for an upset stomach? Same concept." Read on...
